Türkan Şoray Kültür Merkezi — cultural centre of Muratpaşa

A municipal cultural centre in the heart of Antalya, named after the actress and director Türkan Şoray, the “queen of Turkish cinema”. The venue hosts municipal theatre productions, symphonic programmes and touring shows. In September 2026 the season opens with a stand-up concert by Stas Starovoytov.

About the venue

An academic stage in the shadow of the old town

Türkan Şoray Kültür Merkezi is one of the key municipal cultural centres in Antalya, operated by the Muratpaşa municipality. The building carries the name of Türkan Şoray — a legendary Turkish actress who played more than two hundred roles over a 60-year career, a Golden Orange laureate and holder of the honorary title “Sultan of Turkish cinema”. It is exactly this emphasis — on cultural memory and respect for the stage heritage — that defines the centre’s programme.

The centre functions as a multi-purpose stage: municipal theatre drama, symphonic concerts of the Antalya Philharmonic season, Turkish classical music evenings (Türk Sanat Müziği), meetings with writers and, increasingly often, touring artists from abroad — including Russian-speaking stand-up comedians and singer-songwriters. The audience is intellectual and grown-up, coming prepared: people who read the programme in advance, who look up the artist’s biography and who stay for informal conversation after the concert.

Auditorium and technical set-up

The stage is fixed and the amphitheatre seating rises gently row by row, giving a clear view from every seat. Sound — a professional concert system that copes equally well with a symphonic programme and with spoken formats like stand-up. Light and projection allow the stage to be adapted quickly to different formats: from strict mono lighting for a drama piece to full concert lighting for music nights. Dressing rooms and back-of-house areas meet the requirements of touring promoters, which makes the centre a convenient anchor point for multi-day tours.

What you can see here

In a normal season (September–June) the Türkan Şoray Kültür Merkezi programme features 3–5 events per week: municipal concerts, repertory productions, creative evenings. In summer (July–August) the venue works less — most concerts move to open-air stages at Konyaaltı KFM and Aspendos. Russian-speaking tours are usually scheduled here in the autumn–winter season, when the core local audience returns. Stas Starovoytov’s stand-up on 15 September 2026 is the first major event for Antalya’s Russian-speaking scene in the new season.

How to get here

Address, transport and parking

Türkan Şoray Kültür Merkezi is located in the district of Muratpaşa — the historic centre of Antalya, a 10–15 minute walk from the old town of Kaleiçi and the seafront. The precise address is published on the Muratpaşa Belediyesi municipal website; in a navigation app it is enough to type “Türkan Şoray Kültür Merkezi Antalya”.

Public transport

  • Antray tram (Fatih–Meydan line) — the nearest stop is “Meydan”, then 8–10 minutes on foot through Muratpaşa.
  • Dolmuş minibus — any route towards Kaleiçi / Cumhuriyet Meydanı, get off at the central square.
  • On foot from Kaleiçi — a 15-minute walk past the Saat Kulesi clock tower and the Yivli Minare mosque.

Taxi and Uber

From Antalya Havalimanı airport — 20–30 minutes, with a taxi fare around 400–500 TL. From the hotels in Lara — 15–20 minutes (250–350 TL), from Konyaaltı — 15 minutes (200–300 TL). Uber operates across the city; after the concert it is the easiest way to get back to your hotel.

Parking

The venue does not have a large parking lot of its own. Nearby you will find municipal Muratpaşa Belediyesi car parks and street parking paid via the İSPARK app. On concert nights the immediate area fills up quickly — arrive 30–40 minutes before the start, or leave the car further out, closer to Kaleiçi.

What is nearby

The line of restaurants in Kaleiçi with sunset terraces, the wine bars along Kaleiçi Sokakları, evening shisha spots, the Atatürk museum a block away, the Konyaaltı seafront a 10-minute taxi ride out. Many visitors arrive in Antalya around lunch time, walk through the old town, dine near the harbour and then head to the concert — a scenario that is genuinely hard to spoil.

Frequently asked

What to know before a concert at Türkan Şoray

Which district of Antalya is the centre in?

In Muratpaşa — the historic core of Antalya, a 10–15 minute walk from the old town of Kaleiçi. The nearest landmark is the Saat Kulesi clock tower.

What is the fastest way from a hotel in Lara?

Taxi or Uber — 15–20 minutes along the coastal road, 250–350 TL. Public transport takes longer: dolmuş to the centre, then a 10-minute walk.

Is there parking right next to the venue?

No large parking of its own. Municipal Muratpaşa Belediyesi car parks and İSPARK paid street parking are nearby. On concert nights arrive 30–40 minutes in advance.

What is the seating like?

Fixed amphitheatre seating with a gentle rise. Good sightlines from every seat. We recommend rows 5–10 in the central section — the sweet spot between proximity and full-picture perception.

Does the venue work in summer?

In July–August the centre operates less — most concerts of that period move to open-air venues Konyaaltı KFM and Aspendos. The autumn–winter season (September–June) is the main one.

Where do I find the full centre programme?

Our calendar of Russian-speaking events in Antalya is on the home page. The full Turkish programme of the centre is on the official Muratpaşa Belediyesi municipal site.
